SPRING HAS SPRUNG, SO HAVE THE JOB FAIR OPPORTUNITIES

OCALA, Fla. (March 23, 2015) – Beginning this week, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion will hold a quartet of area job fairs designed to connect those looking for work with employers with spring hiring plans.

Registration for the job fairs is not necessary but job seekers are urged to register with the Employ Florida Marketplace at www.employflorida.com. Complete details and job fair preparation tips, including how to dress for success, are available at www.careersourceclm.com/calendar.

Brenda Chrisman, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion’s chief business development officer, said that the fee-free recruiting events benefit job seekers as well as local businesses.

“If you are looking for work, this is a great way to meet employers who are hiring and often you are able to apply for jobs before walking out the door,” she said. “For employers, these job fairs have proven to be a fast, efficient and extremely cost-effective way to connect with qualified, skilled talent.”

Chrisman noted that while there is no charge to attend the job fairs, professional dress is required.

Marion Oaks Community Job and Career Fair takes place Thursday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to noonat the Marion Oaks Community Center, 294 Marion Oaks Lane, in Ocala. Hiring representatives from more than a dozen businesses will be on hand including American Panel, Bent Oak Farm, Home Instead, Kid’s Central and Southeast Milk. For more information, call 352-732-1700, ext. 2260.

Citrus County Spring Job Fair is set for Wednesday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College of Central Florida’s Learning and Conference Center, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway, in Lecanto. Job fair preparation workshops take place April 3 at 9 a.m., April 6 at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., April 8 at 9 a.m. at CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion’s one-stop career center, 683 S. Adolph Point in Lecanto. To date, two dozen employers plan to attend including AT&T, AutoZone, Childhood Development Services, Citrus County Chronicle, Hospice of Citrus County, Key Training Center, Middlesex Corp., Nature Coast Recreational Vehicle and Plantation on Crystal River. Youth Job Fair takes place Tuesday, April 21 from 3-6 p.m. at the Howard Academy Community Center, 306 NW Seventh Ave., in Ocala. The job fair is for youth ages 16-21 who are interested in summer or permanent employment, full- or part-time. A job fair preparation workshop will take placeApril 17 at 3 p.m. at the same location. Manufacturing Job Fair will be held Wednesday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the College of Central Florida Webber Center, 3001 SW College Road, in Ocala. The job fair takes place in tandem with similar hiring events throughout the state the same day. For more information, call 352-732-1700. Jerry Flanders, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion’s workshop coordinator, said that the Job Fair Preparation workshops are ideal for anyone who hasn’t attended a job fair before or who has recently returned to the job-search market.

“This isn’t intended to replace the full menu of in-depth workshops we offer, but it can help you get ready to make the most of your time at a job fair,” Flanders said. “We cover proper dress for making the best impression, soft skills employers look for, and how to create and perfect your ‘elevator speech.’ Also, we’ll help you develop a targeted resume that can help get you that all-important job interview.” 

In 2014, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion averaged more than 1,000 job placements per month and provided fee-free services for employment, training and career development to 45,000 job seekers and more than 3,400 employers throughout the three-county region.
