MORE TROPHIES FOR TRUE PATH KARATE

October 1, 2014

OCT 1 LODE IMG 0202Last weekend, a very gray one in Daytona, national karate competition took place at the Ocean Center.  The instructors from True Path Karate in Chiefland, middle school teacher John Lohde and ranger Pam Darty were accompanied by two very interested students and their families.

Children’s competition was most of the day.  After seeing youths of all ages perform, both Chiefland students were inspired and plan to enter the November tournament in Perry. Savannah Hudson and J.T. Madden are advancing quickly in their traditional Okinawan karate classes; their instructors are sure they’ll do very well at the competition.

Lohde and Darty entered both traditional weapons and traditional empty hand kata.  After competing against each other, they brought home two 2nd place and two 3rd place trophies.  “I’m happy,” said Darty. “The traditionalist who took both first place trophies was the best I’ve seen in decades.  I’m envious he was able to study for years in Okinawa.”
