March 9th the Cedar Key Sharks beat Countryside (Gainesville) 18-2, coming off a loss Monday to Bronson (20-2). The Cedar Key team is a growing team with two seniors and the rest of the 16 member roster. This is a large jump from the former 9/10 man roster of underclassmen, including three of those being 6/7th graders. The game ended with a ground into a double play being made when third baseman Ty Winfield, Luke Whaley at home, and Jeffrey Schleede at first.
Some other highlights of the game were:
11th grader Levi Brinkman 3 for 3 double, walk, 3 RBI, 2 runs scored
11th grader Mikey Beckham 4 walks, 3 stolen bases, 3 runs scored
10th grader Kyle Stewart 2 innings pitched, 4 strikeouts, no runs allowed
