NEW CKPOTTERY 2019
CEDAR KEY FARES WELL WITH HURRICANE MICHAEL
October 11, 2018

Cedar Key Emergency Operations, Police Department, Public Works, and City Hall personnel waxed well in preparation for, during, and after Hurricane Michael.

Sirens blasted emergency exit warnings; Chief Robinson’s Cedar Key Fire Rescue Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pg/CedarKeyFireRescue/photos/?ref=page_internal posted photos; Police Chief Sandlin combed the streets reminding folks of evacuation status; city personnel packed up City Hall and moved to the Community Center before the event and had City Hall up and running the next morning; Public Works had the streets cleaned and cleared the next day.

Fortunately, flooding was less than predicted but was still enough to cause repeat problems for many residents. Rising water and its related effects are becomming more common every year. No roads were washed out this time, but flooding in downtown Cedar Key and in certain other areas did require the closing roads.
