ANNUAL COMMUNITY VETERANS DAY CEREMONY TO REMEMBER AND APPRECIATE AMERICAN VETERANS

GAINESVILLE, FL. Veterans Day began as a celebration of the end of World War I and has become a time set aside to honor all of America’s Veterans. The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 11 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Alachua County Veterans Memorial Park (7340 SW 41 Pl, Gainesville, 32606). The theme for 2018 is "Remember and Appreciate: A Celebration honoring our American Veterans.”
Veteran organizations and Veteran supporting organizations will set up for citizens beginning at 9:00 a.m. to visit and learn about the many services available to Veterans. At 10:00 a.m. a special presentation by Gannon Woods on the Life and Accoutrements of the Civil War Era Soldier and at 10:30 a.m. a musical tribute by Fort Clark Middle School. The formal program begins at 11:00 a.m.
The presentation, posting, and retiring of colors will be led by the Gainesville High School ROTC Color Guard; Bob Gasche, World War II Marine Veteran will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and Julie Rattley, retired Army Veteran and VA Employee will sing the National Anthem. Retired Brigadier General Paul Albritton will provided the Invocation and Benediction.
Additional participants include: Ft. Clarke Middle School Band, Palatka Skydiver, Santa Fe Signing Saints, Billy Mitchell Drill Team, Milton Lewis Young Marines, Buchholz High School band members, Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, Alachua County Veteran Services, and the Malcom Randall VAMC.
