CITY PARK?
WHAT’S GOING ON THERE”
November 20, 2018

If you’ve wondered what is going on at City Park lately, it is a great deal. Thanks to the City of Cedar Key being awarded a $50,000 Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) grant, the park is being refurbished and renewed.

FRDAP is a competitive, reimbursement grant program which provides financial assistance for acquisition or development of land for public outdoor recreation in Florida; it requires no matching funds. At no cost to Cedar Key residents, such grants have provided City Park’s initial playground equipment and sheltered kiosks in past years. City Attorney Norm Fugate’s office assists in processing some of the grant’s paperwork.

The major piece of playground equipment, beginning to rust, is now being dismantled and refurbished or replaced. A new crawl through-spill out piece is being installed near the playground.    From the Kissimmee-Saint Cloud area, Marie Flounder and her crew, Kenny and Billy, are repairing and installing the equipment.
