MISS EVA EGERTON'S JULY 15TH CONCERT

July 16, 2019

Four violinists performed for about an hour last night, using "Miss Eva" Egerton's back porch in Kiss-Me-Quick as their stage. Neighbors brought chairs and sat in the yard. The heat had abated, and the mosquitoes clearly didn't like violin music.

The fofur women were violin students of Miss Eva's when she taught in the public schools in Atlanta. Eva was also the director of the Atlanta area Youth Symphony. Stacey Thompson and Lacinda Jackson currently teach violin in their public schools and Audrey Reese recently retired from teaching, although she still performs with a string quartet. Max DeHaven is the grandson of Dottie Haldeman and is currently being taught to play the violin by Miss Eva.

When Miss Eva told a neighbor that three former violin students were coming to visit, the neighbor asked if they'd give a concert for the neighborhood. The four women performed works by Teleman, Handel, Mozart, as well as a couple of "ho-down" pieces. The encore was the theme song from The Pink Panther.

Miss Eva served cocktail sandwiches, cake, and drinks after the concert.

The consensus of the audience was "only in Cedar Key and only in Kiss-Me-Quick." This is what a neighborhood should be like.
