CHRISTMAS EVE FIRST DISTRIBUTION

The Cedar Key Food Pantry coordinator Sue Colson believes a future home is in sight and soon to be named. Colson is planning to move the food distribution operation during the week of December 16. She plans to have the first distribution at the new site on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2019  

OPEN HOUSE IN JANUARY

Colson also plans a Welcome Celebration, Open House in the opening weeks on January. She wants the entire community of workers who labored, donated items, and donated dollars to view the communal project.

MOVE

You can imagine the work involved in moving freezers, refrigerators, shelving, and more from one location to another. Prior to the move, of course, is the preparation; after the move come the inspections. the USDA and Bread of the Mighty, a large food distribution center in Gainesville, require on-site inspections at regular intervals and, of course, when opening a new facility. Colson will need strong-armed assistance during the December 16 week.

NEW ENCUMBRANCES

The move necessitates new encumbrances. The Panty will pay a monthly water bill, a monthly electric bill, a garbage bill, and annual insurance. Any donations to defray those costs are much appreciated.

NEEDS FOR NOW

Moving to a new place, which should have three rooms, requires many startup materials because, as of now, the Food Pantry has none. It owns the freezers, refrigerators, and the shelving and that is all. Two rooms will be used to store and distribute food; the last space will be used for educational and counseling services when needed.

The Food Pantry has additional needs noted below. If you can supply one or some of these needs, it is much appreciated. Items may be new or used; all must be clean and usable.

·       File cabinet, three or four-drawer, one needed

·       Door mats, three needed

·       Folding tables, 6 feet long, 32 inches wide, two needed

·       Garbage cans with lids, kitchen-sized, 32 gallon is best, must have lids, three needed

·       First aid kit, one needed

·       Fire extinguisher, three needed

·       Picnic table for outside

·       Cleaning supplies: bleach, three toilet brushes, cleaners,

·       Hand sanitizer

·       Plunger

·       Toilet tissue

·       Television with wall mount, for educational purposes, 36 inches or larger
