Frostproof Artists Paint Cedar Key

Maureen Landress

When looking for places that offer endless vistas of natural beauty to capture on canvas, no better location can be found than Cedar Key. The Frostproof Artists League is discovering that fact for themselves, as they hold their first annual paint out this weekend on the island. Hosted by the Sunset Isle RV Park, the league will not only be creating new paintings while here, but will also offer demonstrations and camaraderie each evening around 7:00 P.M. at the RV Park Clubhouse.

The league is an all volunteer organization with approximately 113 active members, and is located in the city of Frostproof. Since their beginning in 1996, they have become a driving force behind the artistic development in their community. The members teach classes for children and seniors, promote artists and varied art exhibitions, and have painted numerous murals around their city. They are an eclectic group of artists with varied ideas of artistic expression and levels of expertise. Their love of art is contagious, and their willingness to share their skills with others unbounded.
