Hello everyone. This week's Corner will cover a developing problem here in Levy County. As everyone knows we are experiencing some very significant changes in our road/highway system. One of the major highways that passes through Levy County is quickly changing from a two-lane road to a four lane major highway.

With these changes comes the need to also change some of our habits. We now should be aware that the word is out and we will be experiencing an ever-increasing flow of traffic between Williston and Chief land. The section of 27A between I-75 and Chiefland is now much more attractive to motorists who are going to the panhandle. Truckers are now more apt to use this highway also.

For many, this increase in traffic can mean an increase in the number of people stopping along the way for fuel, food and other needs. For others, the sound of the increased traffic may be annoying. Also the potential for accidents increases.

For those of us who travel 27A on a regular basis, the increase in traffic is already being felt. I've noticed that getting onto 27A sometimes takes a little more time.

Please remember, as you drive on 27A and other highways to be courteous to the cars coming onto the highway. If you're in the right hand lane move over, if you can, to let those other cars get onto the road. Remember, they will need a little time to get up to the increased speed. Also please take care when turning left off of 27A. The turn medians are large and I've noticed some confusion by drivers trying to fit into the turn area to complete this turn. Again courtesy is the key when moving into the turn lane, then to the median area before crossing over the opposite direction lane. Also, if you're traveling slower than some of the other traffic, move to the right to let the faster traffic pass.

Please be safe and have a good week.
