31 December 1865 - The National Debt stood at $2.85 billion dollars. The Secretary of the Treasury reported that the Civil War had cost the Federal Government $6.19 billion dollars. It cost the Federal Government nearly $2 million per day from 1861 through 1865 to wage the Civil War. The value of the Confederate dollar in gold dropped from 90 cents in 1861 to 6 cents in 1864.

Most Confederate dollar bills are worth more today than they were in 1865.

03 March 1920 - The Levy County Board of County Commissioners ordered an assessment of 3% of the net compensation of the office that said candidate might be aspiring to placed upon all candidates running in the June Primary Election. The purpose of the assessment is to defray the expenses of holding a primary election.

02 January 1942 - Fred A. LeSueur registered the fictitious name of "Top of the Hill Grill and Service Station" with Clerk of Court Jack L. Meeks. The business was located at the intersection of US 41 and US 27 Alt. in Williston.
