Fictitious names registered for the Year 1944 as follows: Burns Lumber Company (A.J. Burns & S.M. Burns); Nettles Cafe (L.A. Robinson); Weir's Electric Shop (Ralph W. Weir).

June 1929 - Western Union Telegraph Company, leased from I. M. Pease, office space in the I. M. Pease Building located on Main Street. It was to be a 10-year lease with the rent beginning at $300.00 for the first 2-years, $360.00 for the next 3-years and the next 5-years to be agreed upon.

77 years ago


March 1927 - A proposed resolution came before the County Commissioners, to grant to Edward Ball or his nominee, exclusive option for the construction and operation of a toll bridge across the Suwannee River. In April 1927, The Florida State Legislature, granted the construction, operation and maintaining of a toll bridge across the Suwannee River from Old Town to the Gulf of Mexico. However as of this printing nothing could be found in the records to show this was ever implemented.
