Sheriff`s Corner

Hello and welcome to this week's Sheriff's Corner. First for this week, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. I hope everyone has a great holiday and I hope the weekend is also safe. As you know, there will be a large celebration in Williston. Your Sheriff's Office will be there along with our explorers, VOICE and School Resource Officers. We'll be giving out packages with gunlocks and some other surprises. I hope you remember to come out for the festivities and fun. Also please be careful when using fireworks, sparklers, etc.

For those of you who didn't know, we received a "true bill" from the grand jury and Carl Heflin will be arraigned on 1st degree murder charges. This investigation was very involved but fast moving. The arrest happened after only several hours of interviews by our investigators. Now that the grand jury is complete, the rest of the investigation can be completed. That is the great volume of physical evidence can be evaluated and results returned back to us.
