Obituary

James Floyd Taylor, 85, lifetime resident of Cedar Key, FL passed away Monday, March 9, 2009. Floyd was born in Cedar Key on Dec. 25, 1923. He graduated from Cedar Key High School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He lived out his life in Cedar Key as a commercial fisherman and general contractor. Floyd and his wife of 67 years, Louise, are lifetime members of the First Baptist Church of Cedar Key. Floyd served in his church as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Floyd served on the Cedar Key City Council and the School Board of Levy County for numerous years.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Henry F. and Lula P. Taylor, his sisters, Eula Kay Welhelm and Betty J. Cannon. He is survived by his wife, Louise C. Taylor, his brothers Henry Fredrick and George Willard, his children Ronnie (Diane) Taylor, Janice (Greg) Sterling and Vicki (Bob) Alkire. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Cedar Key, with Pastor Todd Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Key Cemetery.
