Local Food Pantry Needs Your Help

ANNOUNCEMENT

An Opportunity to Serve in Your Community

The Cedar Key Community Food Pantry is a community service that provides food for low income seniors and families who have a Cedar Key address. Over the past year, the present economic situation has caused an increase in the number of households using the food pantry. There is now a weekly average of 42 households benefiting from this service.

As the use of the Food Pantry has increased, the need for help from the has increased. The operation of the Cedar Key Food Pantry relies solely on volunteers. The volunteers are scheduled once every four to six weeks. Volunteers are needed to serve in several capacities:

* Drivers are needed on Wednesdays to drive their trucks, SUV, or vans to Gainesville to pick up supplies from The Bread of the Mighty warehouse for stocking our Food Pantry.

* Volunteers are needed to meet the drivers at the Cedar Key Food Pantry to help unload the supplies when they return.

*Volunteers are needed to help with the stocking of supplies, usually on Thursday mornings.

* Volunteers are needed on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 when the Food Pantry is open to help with the distribution of supplies.

Please contact the volunteer coordinator, Marty Healy 543-6727, if you can help with the Cedar Key community Food Pantry.
