Laura M. Watson, 1912-2010

Obituary

Laura M. Watson of Gulf Hammock passed away at the Tri County Nursing Home in Fanning Springs on November 12, 2010. She was born October 15, 1912 near Bronson, and she was 98 years old.

Mama was a life long resident of Levy County and a member of the United Methodist Church of Ellzey. She enjoyed working in the garden, working crossword puzzles, reading the Bible and talking about her family and friends. She grew sugar cane and made cane syrup for many years at her home in Gulf Hammock. She delivered the Gainesville Sun Newspaper for 11 years ending in the early 1970`s. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Will T. Watson, and a daughter, Patricia.

Mama is survived by her seven sons, Willie E. Watson (Elsie) of Rosewood, Jesse L. Watson (Carolyn) of Naples, FL , Hughy Watson ( Mary) of Kirby, Arkansas, Doyle A. Watson ( Chris) of Inglis, FL. , Stephen D. Watson ( Betty Kay) of Gulf Hammock, FL, William M. Watson (Elaine) of Chiefland, FL., Jerry W. Watson ( Elizabeth) of Gulf Hammock, FL., 15 grandchildren, 17 Great Grand Children, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren and a special friend, Mrs. Marie Meeks of Ellzey, FL.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Ellzey. Visitation will be Monday, November 15, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Chiefland. Online condolences can be made at the website http://www.hiers-baxley.com.
