Chiefland Man Arrested for DUI in Cedar Key

Jim Hoy

Early morning July 5th, the Cedar Key Police clocked a pickup truck going east on Highway 24 at fifteen miles an hour over the speed limit while passing cars after crossing the yellow line. After a brief pursuit, Charles Edward McGee IV, 28, of Chiefland was stopped, and agreed to a sobriety test. Having failed the test, McGee was transported to the Levy County Jail.

McGee was charged with driving under the influence after failing two breath tests at near twice the legal limit. According to Cedar Key Police records, this was the twelfth DUI arrest in 2003. However, nearly all of the arrests were in the first four months of the year.
