MAYOR LOOKS TO CEDAR KEY’S FUTURE ....WORKING WITH  CITIZENRY

At Tuesday evening’s Cedar Key Commission Meeting, Mayor Heath Davis spoke several times about the commission’s focus for the upcoming year: its residents, the citizenry. 

Recalling the all-inclusive, thoughtful, data-based process employed in the past, Davis mentioned the charrettes that were conducted by the outside agency, CivicDesign, in 2004 and 2005 that resulted in the City of Cedar Key Community Development Plan. Every citizen who wished to participate did so, was heard, and had his/her ideas captured for consideration of what they wanted the City of Cedar Key to be and look like in the years to come. 

The distillation of all the citizenry’s voices was published in the final April 5, 2005, document the City of Cedar Key Community Development Plan.                and included three foci:    

• Maintain the “fishing/working waterfront” character of Cedar Key
• Preserve Cedar Key’s historic resources
• Protect Cedar Key’s natural environment.

Mayor Davis said more information will be forthcoming.
