2023 October
By Lion Steve Rosenthal, Parade Committee Chairman
The 2023 Cedar Key Seafood Festival kicked off the Seafood Festival with one of its perennial favorites - the Parade down First Street and Dock Street. Police Chief Edwin Jenkins and Volunteer Fire Chief Robert Robinson were at the head of the parade with the Chiefland VFW Color Guard, followed by the Cedar Key School Safety Patrol followed by golf carts and floats galore, including our own Clambassador, Michael Bobbitt, and the Cedar Key Aquaculture Association float, The parade was enjoyed by a veritable cast of thousands (Really!).
Prizes were awarded as follows:
Best of Show ($175.00) went to the Crab Crew headed by Debbie Gibson of Riverview, Florida:

Best Golf Cart ($75.00) went to Piney Point Fish Camp - Jerry & Nancy Salamon of Cedar Key:

Best Float ($75.00) went to the Aquaculture Association Boat:

Best Costume ($75.00) went to Michele McCarthy from the Eagles:

Congratulations to you all and I look forward to your participation next year!
I wish to extend my special thanks to the people who helped to make the parade a success: Cedar Key Police Chief Jenkins for his help in keeping G street from erupting into chaos, Commissioner Sue Colson for her invaluable assistance, and Lion Betty Belair, who had the extremely difficult job of judging the event.
