NEW CKPOTTERY 2019
WE LOVE OUR LIBRARY…
AND FINALLY IT’S OPEN FULL TIME
2024 July 11

There are still very few shelves, many books are still in boxes, and the phone doesn’t work, but…the great news is that the Cedar Key Library is open starting on Monday, July 15, with its regular hours:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday…10 am - 4 pm
Tuesday… 10 am - 6 pm
Saturday… 10 am - 3 pm

With the flooding from Hurricane Idalia hit Cedar Key on August 30, 2023,nearly a year ago, the Library was closed For the past several months, the library has been open part time with functional computers but few books. Delays include FEMA requirements, refurbished flooring having been damaged after the hurricane needed refurbishing again, delayed shelving orders, and shelves delivered without all the component parts.

Meanwhile, Cedar Key’s need for a library are constant. Many in the community do not have computer and Internet access and rely on the library. Students, always in need of the library, are on summer vacation and would certainly benefit from library leisure materials. Residents continue to read.

Hopefully, shelves will be in place soon, books will come out of boxes, and the “information hub” of the city will begin to function a it has in the past.
Should you have questions or wish to register your concern for the library, the person in charge is Levy County’s Library Manager Darlene Slattery at 352.613.1969.
