CEDAR KEY SCHOOL...
WHAT'S HAPPENING  THIS WEEK?
2024 October 21 - 25
This piece waswritten by Cedar Key School's  Jessica Crosby.

CURRENT CKS NEWS

The Achieve program will resume today, 10/21. No new students have been added to the roster.

We've invited CKS families to stop by today or Tuesday from 4 - 6 p.m. to pick up any items they may need from the donations in our auditorium. It would be amazing if we can find homes for most of it! I plan to stay both days, and Lisa Custer will be there to help today, as well. If anyone else would like to join us, you’re more than welcome.

There's a lot of "extra" happening on campus next week: Fall Pep Rally/1st Nine Weeks Awards Assembly, Red Ribbon Week, Halloween/Trunk or Treat, and Fall Festival, just to name a few.

Red Ribbon Week is almost here! Next week (Monday, 10/28 – Friday, 11/1), we will be celebrating this annual, week-long campaign to remind students to stay drug-free. The theme this year is: "Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free." Most years, our SGA students plan and prepare nearly every detail of the week, but this year, the coalition has offered to do the heavy lifting by providing the dress-up days, fliers, and other promotional materials, as well as hosting a door decorating contest and student poster contest with prizes! I will relay and/or distribute the information/details as they come, but here's what I know so far:

Monday, 10/28 - Superhero Day

Tuesday, 10/29 - Western Day

Wednesday, 10/30 - Disney Movie Character Day

Thursday, 10/31 - Dream Big (Future Careers or Red Carpet "Red"-y)

Friday, 11/1 - School Spirit Day

On Monday, 10/28, to kickstart Red Ribbon Week, we're going to bring back our fall pep rally, but with a twist. This time, we're going to extend the length and combine it with our 1st Nine Weeks Awards Assembly. As of right now, I'm thinking it will begin at 1:30 p.m., but I'll let you all know for certain once Vicki and I have nailed down the details. I'm looking forward to it; I think it'll be something "different."

If you or someone you know would like to pass out candy at the Trunk or Treat on Halloween evening, the following form needs to be completed by THIS Thursday, 10/24: tinyurl.com/CedarKeyHalloween2024. I, of course, will still welcome anyone to come set up until the very last minute, but I would still like to have a tentative headcount so I can figure out the layout ahead of time. We also have PLENTY of candy/snacks to share to those who show up to distribute, so please come see me whenever, if you'd like to grab some.
