Basin Management Action Plan Maps (BMAPs) in Levy County to be discussed by Director Stacey Hectus, Levy Co. Planning and Zoning, at the Board of County Commissioners meeting Tuesday, August 22nd at 9 a.m.
Agenda item:
"INFORMATION: Requesting the Levy County Board of County Commissioners to receive staff presentation by the Legal, Engineering, Planning and Zoning and Health Department to inform the Commission of the July 1, 2023 state law changes under the Department of Environmental Protection. These regulations require parcels of one acre or less, in the BMAP areas, to connect to central sewer or upgrade to an enhanced nutrient-reducing septic system if sewer is unavailable. The new law also requires updates to the Comprehensive Plan."
From the FDEP Website:
What is a Basin Management Action Plan?
A basin management action plan (BMAP) is a framework for water quality restoration that contains local and state commitments to reduce pollutant loading through current and future projects and strategies. BMAPs contain a comprehensive set of solutions, such as permit limits on wastewater facilities, urban and agricultural best management practices, and conservation programs designed to achieve pollutant reductions established by a total maximum daily load (TMDL).
These broad-based plans are developed with local stakeholders and rely on local input and commitment for development and successful implementation.
BMAPs are adopted by Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretarial Order and are legally enforceable.
