CKWSD General Manager
1940-2012

John H. "Jack" Hotaling, 72, of Cedar Key and Tampa, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2012. He was born June 30, 1940 in Albany, NY to the late Rachel and Elmo Hotaling.


Mr. Hotaling graduated from Colonie Central H.S. and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He was a State of Florida Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, as well as being certified in water treatment operations. His expertise in utility design and troubleshooting led Jack to hold several ownership and managerial positions spanning several decades. He was most recently the General Manager of the Cedar Key Water District. His two favorite personal accomplishments are attaining the level of Eagle Scout and finishing the 1987 Honolulu Marathon on his 25th wedding anniversary trip.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann; children, Janice Ann Capuano and John Cocroft Hotaling; grandchildren, Luke Iacovone, Leah Huckabay, Mallori Hotaling and Logan Capuano; and his sister, Jo Anne (Bob) Lake.

The viewing and reception will be Thursday, Sept. 13, 4:30-8 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home in Tampa. Burial will take place in New York.
