Empty Bowls Event

Empty Bowls Event

Amy Gernhardt

The food pantry in Cedar Key is the beneficiary of an upcoming event. Local students and others are crafting bowls from clay to be filled with soup or salad and fed to participants at the Empty Bowls Event. If you made a bowl at the Summer Art program, bring your parents and grandparents to share in your achievement.

Some bowls are low and flat, and some will be round. They are all shapes and sizes, and have a variety of cone 9 glazes fabricated at Cedar Key Pottery.

Think about a way to contribute, and all offers are welcome. If you have a soup or salad recipe you would like to share, or if you would like to spread the word to area churches and groups, please call for details. If anyone is interested in participating in this event, either by donating soup or bread, or salad or dessert, or serving, please call 352-215-2096. The event will be held next month, with a date and time to be announced.

We would like to make this a community event, with people helping people.

If all you have to contribute is a healthy appetite, we certainly need those too! All are welcome.
