At last week`s City meeting, Commissioner Sue Colson and Cedar Key School Senior Chloe Reynolds reported on Cedar Key`s Coastal Cleanup efforts - ongoing since 2006 - and the recent results.

Reynolds spoke of the ready, energetic support and participation of her schoolmates and about how her placing the project on Facebook helped raise awareness. Significantly more individuals were involved in the cleanup this year than in the past.

Among the Cleanup`s recommendations to the city were placing additional cigarette disposal urns around town, because fewer cigarette butts were found in where urns were placed last year.

The success of the cleanup effort by Chloe Reynolds and her schoolmates was recognized by Commissioner Colson and the Commission. A Certificate of Appreciation and flowers with a bow made from a clam net were presented to Chloe, as her proud parents, Linda Seyfert and Chris Reynolds looked on from their seats in the audience.
