Chris Cowart wins seat on Levy County School Board

Chris Cowart wins seat on Levy County School Board

Ada Lang

Chris Cowart, thought about running for a seat on the Levy County School Board for a long time but he respected Miss Beth Davis - who held the seat - too much to run against her. But, when she decided not to run again, he jumped at the opportunity to try to fill her seat.
"Everything I have done has revolved around youth and Cedar Key School deserves a voice on the Board," he explained, adding, "The students need an advocate, an ally."

Cowart has coached youth t-ball and soccer in Chiefland and girl`s basketball at Cedar Key School for the past four years, where his 10 year old daughter, Grace, attends school.

Additionally, Cowart has served on the Cedar Key Water and Sewer District Board, a seat he will resign from as he takes on his new duties at the School Board.

He will start his new job at the next meeting in two weeks now that he won against Kyle Quincy. It was a hard-won battle that placed him all over the county campaigning, but he says he looks forward to the work he has ahead.
