Girls Tip Off a New Season
Molly Gordon, and Lauren Bartholemy, Shark Correspondents

The Lady Sharks battled hard this past week as they took on the Williston Devils and Bronson Eagles.

Bronson High School held the annual Levy County Tip-Off this past Thursday and Friday evening. With only two practices under their belts, the lady Sharks set off to play Bronson Thursday night as the first game of their season.
The girls lost the game but kept their heads high as they went on to play Williston Friday night. The girls also lost the game against the Devils but ended the tip-off with high spirits and looking forward to the season ahead of them.

FBLA Educational Trip
Rebecca Russo: Shark Correspondent

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club went on a trip to Ocala for the Fall District Rally where a speaker from Men`s Wear House talked about "Dress for Success".

The representatives demonstrated how to dress appropriately for a job interview and careers. The students attended breakout sessions for the different competition categories and learned more about FBLA competition.
Gwen Rhodes, one of the speakers, created a presentation for the members of FBLA on cyber crime and social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace.

The trip was informative and an overall success for the club.

Pep Rally Equals Success
Mikayla Pope, Shark Correspondent

The Shark Cheerleaders put on another spirit filled pep rally last Friday. The crowd was standing up, clapping, and yelling with every cheer. A surprise dance started of the event to the hit pop song "Call Me Maybe" and continued with announcing the cheerleaders, old and new.

MC Caitlin Goss introduced brand new cheers to the school invented by the CKS cheerleading team.

To encourage the teams to beat their opponents "Crush the Competition" was the title of the next activity. Kent Sloan, Kaely Wilson, Bobby Trammell, and Molly Gordon accepted the challenge of drinking grape "Crush" soda out of baby bottle, competing to be the first to drink every last drop.

Ending the pep rally, the spirit contest came next. Elementary, middle, and high school battled to the last yell for the spirit stick, but in the end it was the high school who won over the cheerleaders for the stick. "The cheerleaders are looking forward to another pep rally for homecoming in January and have some awesome ideas!" said Coach Amy Parks.

Teacher of the Day: Student Amanda Robinson
Eli Glaze Shark Correspondent

"Teacher of the Day" is a type of reward for elementary students who earn 100 points in Accelerated Reading (AR). When a student reaches 100 AR points they get to be the teacher of their class for a day.

The first person this year is Amanda Robinson in Mrs. Janeice Smiths` Fifth grade class at the Cedar Key School. The program is meant to "encourage fluency and enhance their love of reading" as stated by Mrs. Janeice.

Teacher for the Day - Amanda Robinson

When Amanda was asked what the hardest part of being teacher for a day is she replied, "That it`s hard to teach a lesson that she herself doesn`t know yet." She was also asked what this reward means to her, she replied: "It`s cool to be in a different pair of shoes."

If students reach 200 points in AR they could be teacher for a day again or ask to be the coach for a day, if approved. If they reach 300 AR points they could even be Principal for a day.
