Shark Correspondents

Dear Community,

Due to the immense support from the community the 20th Annual Pie and Cake Auction on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 was a complete success. Two records were set this year, the amount of pies brought, as well as the amount of money raised for the Junior Class. Our class would like to thank all of the supporters who helped make this year possible and more than that- enjoyable.

With your continuous support we`ve grown to have higher hopes for this year. We thank you for always showing up to events, being generous, and bringing smiles. The Junior Class and our sponsor Mrs. Cheryl Allen would love to see you all at our upcoming events. Once again, thank you for your support; you are most appreciated for all you do!

Sincerely,
Mikayla Pope, President

FFA Sub-Districts
Sarah Bartholemy, Shark Correspondent

The Sub-District competition is right around the corner for Cedar Key FFA. The members are rushing about rehearsing, studying, and finishes speeches. This year the FFA chapter will be competing in Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, Creed Speaking, and Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The chapter will travel to Bronson and compete on December 15th. President Lauren Bartholemy said; "I`m pumped for sub-districts. We have some great competitors and it`s time to show `em what we`re made of!"

Sharks Basketball
By Molly Gordon, Shark Correspondent

The Sharks showed up to Hawthorne on Monday not quite expecting the outcome. Although the Sharks played hard, the smaller Cedar Key teams (Varsity boys and girls) could not keep up with the more aggressive and experienced Hawthorne players.

The Sharks left the home of the Hornets with their heads held high and hope to improve their skills and fix their errors before their next game.
Don`t forget to come show your Shark pride at the next home game on Friday, December 2nd. Our teams need YOUR support!

It`s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
By Lauren Bartholemy, Shark Correspondent

It is finally the time of year for hot chocolate, Christmas lights, and Santa Claus! At the school, elementary students gather together, whispering about presents and what Santa is going to bring, middle school students are excited for the Christmas parties, and high school students are ready for the break from school.

This year`s Christmas break begins after school on Friday, December 21st and the students arrive back Tuesday, January 8th.
This year semester exams will be completed before the Winter break, which is different from recent previous years when semester exams came after the holidays.

The Winter Program is on Thursday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m. Elementary students will be singing the Christmas classics, such as Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and Up on the Roof Top. The school is bursting with holiday spirit, and is excited for the month of December.

Family Reading Night
Rebecca Russo: Shark Correspondent

Family reading night will take place this Thursday at the Cedar Key School library from 6:30-8:00 as it does every Thursday.
The point of family reading nights is for parents to come in with their students and read together. Students are also offered the opportunity to take A.R. tests.

Ms. Sue Penney is in charge of helping the parents and students find a book to read together; she is also there to provide any technological assistance needed.

Family reading Night is a Cedar Key School tradition and worth experiencing if you have not done so!
