Cedar Key School Prepares for Upcoming Homecoming Events

Mikayla Pope Cheers for the Sharks!


Cedar Key School will begin their homecoming festivities for 2013 on Tuesday, January 22nd. Shark students are rushing about preparing everything for the big week.
The Shark Cheerleaders are hard at work on their dance routine, spirit week, and the pep rally. Due to Martin Luther King Day, homecoming week will begin on January 22nd.
The official homecoming games begin on Friday January 25th, starting with the Middle School Girls game at 3:30.
This year`s themes are:

Tuesday- Pop and Reality day
Wednesday- International day
Thursday- Decade day
Friday- Extreme Spirit day

Homecoming Basketball Games

Homecoming is finally here! This year all four basketball teams will be playing the Branford Buccaneers on January 25th. The game schedule goes as following:

Middle School Girls- 3:30
Middle School Boys-4:30
Varsity Girls-5:30
Varsity Boys- 7:00

The 2013 Homecoming Queen and King will be appointed during half time of the Varsity Boys game. Make sure you come and support all four of the Shark basketball teams!

Speeches Make It to Districts

Cedar Key Speech Winners: Ciera Beckham 8th grade, Hannah Brinkman 6th grade, and Amanda Robinson 5th grade.

Speeches are the main component of the elementary and middle school year; students prepare vigorously for the competition.

The Sharks made their way to the District Speech Competition in Bronson. Amanda Robinson placed second, Hannah Brinkman placed third, and Ciara Beckham received honorable mention for her hard work. "The district competition created a lot of pressure, but I pulled through and ended up having a good time!" Amanda Robinson commented when asked about dealing with the event.


Cedar Key School Spelling Bee Winners: Joan Smart, 5th grade and Kalei Wilson, 8th grade.
