From the red colored river to the land of flowers: Exploring Grand Canyon to learn lessons for Florida`s rivers

Thursday, February 7, 5:00 PM
Cedar Key Library

The Colorado River in the southwestern U.S. is a striking ribbon of water in a mostly dry landscape that is home to some amazingly unique creatures including rare fish species. In this presentation, Dr. Bill Pine with the University of Florida will share pictures of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon National Park and talk about how working in an arid environment like Arizona can teach all of us ideas to consider related to water issues and rivers in Florida. Dr. Pine is an Associate Professor where he spends his time studying the creatures that live in or near river and estuarine ecosystems.
