FFA Constructs New Greenhouse

By Mikayla Pope, Shark Correspondent

The Cedar Key FFA Chapter is moving in a "Green" direction with a new addition toward the fight against hunger. A greenhouse is currently in the making on campus of Cedar Key School, constructed by the hands of Mr. Voyles`s Ag Class and FFA chapter.

The students and members have decided on the idea of a greenhouse for months and finally voted "yes" to the project. The greenhouse will allow the chapter to grow out of season crops as well as gain hands on experience with modern agricultural practices.

J.R. Trimm of the Bronson FFA Chapter helped get the project started including selling and bringing the materials needed to the school. The greenhouse will be used as another resource and tool for implementing sustainable agriculture in on school campus. "The whole class has been waiting for the greenhouse to arrive; we`re excited to use this new tool to help the community as well as learn something new about agriculture," said FFA member and Ag Tech student, Taylor Davinson. The greenhouse will hold a hydroponics system and grow tables filled with lettuce.
