CITY OF CEDAR KEY PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

ANNOUNCEMENT

UPCOMING ELECTIONS FOR CEDAR KEY CITY COMMISSION

Four of the five Cedar Key City Commission seats are open:

- Seat One currently seats Gene Hodges for a two-year term

- Seat Three currently seats Heath Davis for a one-year term

- Seat Four currently seats Dale Register for a two-year term

- Seat Five currently seats Sue Colson for a two-year term

The QUALIFYING PERIOD begins on Monday, March 18, and ends Friday, March 22, 2013, at noon, a four-and-a-half day period.


ELECTIONS will be held on May 7, 2013, at City Hall, 490 Second Street, Cedar Key. In the event that no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, a RUN-OFF ELECTION will occur on May 28, 2013, between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast. Polls will be open from 7AM to 7PM on election day(s).

ELIGIBILITY

"Each candidate for a seat must be a qualified voter who is a resident of the city for at least six months prior to the date the person qualifies to run for office. Each commissioner and the mayor shall continuously reside within the city during their terms of office."
