Cedar Key Arts Center

The last week in February was an exciting time on Seahorse Key. The Cedar Key Arts Center`s first Artist-in-Residence, Robert Firth, was a guest of the island, courtesy of Dr Jennifer Seavey, Assistant Director of the Seahorse Laboratory. Bob`s visit corresponded with the return of the Horseshoe Crabs to their nesting beaches, a sight he found fascinating. This is the first ever collaboration between the University of Florida and the Cedar Key Arts Center, with hopes to offer future opportunities in what Dr Seavey calls `Art Meets Science.`

Being at the right place at the right time, Bob especially likes morning light to capture his images. Seeing the details in his photographs, "extracts and abstracts" of all kinds, natural or man-made, Bob`s images reveal mystic moods, enhanced with beautiful colors, precise technique, graphic composition and clarity. His love of nature and beauty of all kinds is evident in his work.

Bob`s work has been published internationally and is one of Minnesota`s leading magazine, calendar and post card photographers. He will be showing in the MAG at the Cedar Key Arts Center from April 6th to April 29th along with photographer Ann Kamzelski and her students. Cedar Key Potter Amy Gernhardt`s show, `Woman`s Work` will be In the Main Gallery. The Gallery Opening is Saturday, April 6 from 4 - 6 pm
