Pirates invade Cedar Key to Help Local Charities

Pirates invade Cedar Key to Help Local Charities

Submitted by CKPP Correspondent

Pirates from Fernandina Beach and Tampa spent this past weekend in Cedar Key to assist our local Cedar Key Pirates in Paradise to promote an event they are proposing for September 13-15, 2013. The Cedar Pirates welcomed the five Fernandina Pirates on Friday evening and the Tampa group of three dapperly dressed buccaneers arrived early on Saturday morning. The pirates quickly formed a bond and went throughout our town spreading good pirate cheer and taking photographs that will show others that Cedar Key is a "pirate-friendly" destination.

The pirates were photographed all over town hamming it up with curious visitors and enjoying the ambiance and hospitality that Cedar Key freely offered up. The visiting pirates only drew their weapons when it was necessary to get the right camera shot or to convince local tour operators it would be in their best interest to take them around the island so they could survey where they might dock when they return in September. Despite the unseasonably soggy and cool weather over the weekend the out of town buccaneers were treated to a warm welcome from everyone from they encountered.

The Cedar Key Pirates in Paradise are proposing a grassroots event in September that will allow local non-profit groups in need of funds to pick the pockets of visiting out of town pirates and their families. The Cedar Key Pirates in Paradise and local business proprietors have "parlayed" and agreed that it would be a beneficial and fun filled time. The Cedar Key Pirates invite anyone interested to attend their next Sunset Celebration in the garden at the home of Bobby and Janis McCabe on Whiddon Avenue. This month`s pirate meet and eat is May 6th at 6:00 pm. The potluck theme is "Seis de Mayo" and it will be Mexican style food. For more information on the Pirate Invasion in September or to RSVP for the Sunset Celebration contact the Pirates at 352-665-5623.
