Our Library is a Treasure and Molly a Gem!!

Celebrate Molly Appreciation Day
at a Library Open House
Wednesday May 8
10:00 - 4:00

Sponsored by The Friends of the Library

The Cedar Key Library has been bursting with timely information and enjoyment since it was incorporated in 1987. As books stretched its City Hall space, then librarian Janice Coupe searched for someplace large enough to serve the varied needs of the town. She made the fragile, almost see through Schlemmer building her goal, and with grants and some work through the CRA it has become the bright welcoming space it is today.

Molly Jubitz, who manages the library now, has the same energy to help it grow and develop. She is guiding its current evolution into a hot spot for the community. After new media and WIFI were added to sit beside the books, the computers have seldom been idle. Located close to the main desk, they allow users to learn as they go, with tips and expertise from the library staff.

By themselves these improvements were not the power that made community life take root. Molly has made the library, especially the second floor, hum with daily conversations from the local groups who freely use the space. Mixing into that schedule of events are an amazing number of lectures on global and local topics she searches out and presents in the meeting room. Even residents who do not make their life on the water start to understand the environmental richness that we call Cedar Key and the special character of North Florida.

Budgets, schedules, and programs for all ages also demand a full measure of her time and commitment. We are grateful to her skill and enthusiasm for the effort it takes to make it a treasured place in our lives.

Come celebrate our good fortune May 8!
