Obituary

Donald David Kenney, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on July 3rd, 2013.

He was born May 30, 1931 to Magdalene and Roy Kenney, in Del Ray Village, Detroit, Michigan.

He attended Michigan State University and Wayne State University earning a Doctorate Degree in Education. He spent over 30 years in the education field from kindergarten teacher, principal, guidance counselor, assistant superintendent and superintendent, ending his career as a Professor at Concordia University, Ann Arbor.

There he met his wife Beth. They were married New Year`s Eve, 1994 on South Padre Island, Texas, and she survives.

Don loved music, art, books, photography, tennis, children, and animals (he was a foster parent at Huron Valley Humane Society for little kittens).

He was a member of the Ann Arbor Women Artists which caused them to add "and a few good men" to their title. He also was a member of Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor and the Washtenaw Parkinson`s Support Group.

He and his wife traveled extensively doing home exchanges all over the world. They lived in Sydney Australia and Cedar Key Florida for extended times. They also went to three of the four tennis opens.

He knew about antique furniture and loved to go to estate sales and auctions and started a thriving business on eBay.

He was a most delightful man and will be dearly missed for his wit and his love of puns and limericks. Survivors besides his wife Beth are children David - East Lansing, Cynthia Sloat (Bob) - New Fairfield, CT, Kate Kenney (Kevin) - Marquette and stepchildren Vicki Klinger (Marc) - Ann Arbor, Christine Colaner (Dave) - Ypsilanti, Kara Tice (Dennis) - Saline, Jeb Colaner (Pierina) - Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada, and his sister Carole Burkett (Bill) - Gaylord. He adored his 8 grandchildren, Adrianne, Allison, Tony, Kelli, Ryan, Mia, Jackson and Anna and nieces Toni and Charlene.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Albert.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in his name to the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor Parkinson Support Group, the Huron Valley Humane Society or the Ann Arbor Women Artists.
