Capital City Community Banker & Market Leader Inez Worthington Announces Retirement

Capital City Community Banker & Market Leader Inez Worthington Announces Retirement

By Rita Baker

Inez Worthington announced her retirement slated for August 2, 2013 following thirty-nine years of banking service. Mrs. Worthington began her career as a teller with First Federal Savings and Loan in Bronson and was employed there for eight years. In 1982, she accepted a position as Head Teller for Capital City Bank in Cedar Key where she has remained for thirty-one years advancing to her present position as Community Banker & Market Leader. She has been actively involved in community service during her employment with Capital City Bank having served in the past with the Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce as Director, Vice President, President, and Treasurer. In 1997, Mrs. Worthington received the prestigious Julian V. Smith Community Service Award from Capital City Bank of which she is very proud. In 2010, she received the Spirit Award and in 2011 the Sales & Service Leadership Award. Mrs. Worthington has witnessed and experienced numerous innovations during her tenure including adding interest on calculators to the advent of computer calculation, automatic money counters, online banking and direct deposit/withdrawal to name a few.

When asked why she chose a career in banking, she explained that she`s always enjoyed working with numbers and as a small child, recalls giving her parents R. V. and Grace Smith piggy banks to save money. Watching her sister punch keys on a calculator further encouraged her desire to work with figures and money.

While raising her son, Worthington also received the Cedar Key Certificate of Appreciation Award as PTO Supporter of The Year (1986-1987) for outstanding dedicated service, volunteered for the Cedar Key Cub Scouts and served on the PTO ways and means Committee.

After retirement, Inez said she`ll spend time with her grandchildren watching them grow and volunteering as much as possible in their school activities.

"I have mixed emotions about retiring. I`ll truly miss my clients, staff and the Cedar Key community as a whole, but I`m looking forward to some family time. I`ve thoroughly enjoyed the many years I`ve spent in Cedar Key." said Worthington.

Please drop by the Cedar Key Branch to wish her well and express appreciation for her many years of service.
