Merry Christmas in the Park Saturday

ANNOUNCEMENT

A new holiday event will have its premiere this Saturday in Cedar Key City Park.

Merry Christmas In the Park, an event for the whole family, will take place from 3-6 p.m. It is being sponsored by the City of Cedar Key, the Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce and the Cedar Key Aquaculture Association.

One of the highlights of the event will be the appearance of "Santa Clam," a new holiday hero.

Food at the event will be potluck, so everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to pass. Drinks will be provided by the sponsors, and homemade Chili will be served.

Continuous entertainment will take place in the gazebo. Area residents, school groups and church groups will perform. Anyone wishing to contribute to this effort may call 543-9165 or email cedarkeypottery@aol.com or phillipswilliama@bellsouth.net.

This event will focus on the good works that the community members can do for each other and the needy of the area.

Items are needed for the area food pantry. Please bring canned goods and pantry items including turkey or chicken dressing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, peanut butter, jam or jelly, mac & cheese, disposable roaster pans, canned soups, apples, oranges, paper goods, canned meals and coffee.

Items NOT needed are: peas, sweet potatoes, mushroom soup, tomato soup, canned tomato products.

In addition to food items, attendees are encouraged to bring gently used coats, hats, scarfs, gloves, etc. for adults and children sizes small to xx-large.

Groups wishing to donate their time to this event may contact the sponsors.

If the weather is bad, the event will be moved to the Community Center.

Other contacts for the event are: cantwellrr@bellsouth.net or suecolson@bellsouth.net.
