Clam Crop Insurance Informational Meetings

Clam growers in Levy and Dixie Counties are eligible for federally-subsidized crop insurance under a pilot program. The intent of the program is to provide financial protection for unavoidable crop losses. The deadline for growers to sign-up for crop insurance or renew their policy for 2010 is November 30.

On November 3, there will be two meetings to inform growers of the policy provisions and review reporting requirements of growers participating in the program. Cecil Bodiford, southeast manager for the Hudson Insurance Group, will be available to answer questions.


The meetings are from 3:00 to 4:30 PM and from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Senator George Kirkpatrick Marine Lab in Cedar Key. For more information, contact Leslie Sturmer with the UF Shellfish Aquaculture Extension Program at (352) 543-5057 or LNST@ufl.edu.
