Yankeetown to Host Whooping Crane Program

ANNOUNCEMENT

Program to Highlight Project to Reintroduce Whooping Cranes to Florida


Ben Weiss, Whooping Crane Intern at Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge Complex, will give a slide presentation on the national effort to revitalize the whooping crane populations.

The program will be held at the Ellie Schiller Education Center in the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve (WGP) at 1001 Old Rock Road , Yankeetown, on Friday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. Admission is free.


Mr. Weiss will discuss the captive breeding and rearing techniques of chicks in their Wisconsin habitat and their migration from their breeding grounds to the crane`s winter refuge at Chassahowitzka.
