JennieFest a Success

JennieFest a Success

Bobby McCabe

Jennie Pinto made her way around town thanking the friends and neighbors who participated in a nearly week long fundraising effort in her honor. Escorted by Ann and Ken Young, Jennie was visibly touched by the outpouring of support she witnessed on her trip around town. As she rode or walked through town, she saw signs in the windows of many businesses announcing participation in JennieFest. She encountered Pirates having a rummage sale, ladies selling baked goods, kids hawking lemonade, and Greeks getting dunked. The Cedar Key Aquaculture Association plated over 1300 clams on Jennie`s behalf. Jennie smiled broadly and spoke with well-wishers as she ate the tasty Cedar Key treats for the first time since returning home from a thirty-one day hospital stay.

The Cedar Key Pirates in Paradise thank everyone who participated to make this a worthwhile and meaningful event. The spirit of a generous community was showcased as residents and visitors came together to help ease Jennie`s financial woes occurring from her illness. On Jennie`s behalf, we thank everyone who donated items to the silent auction and those who purchased them. To everyone who sold "Jennie Hearts", Jennie Shots, Jennieritas, and Jennie meals you have our heartfelt thanks. To the hundreds of visitors who lucked into coming to Cedar Key on a special weekend and gave so generously we think you are the best and hope you return soon. Cedar Key is truly a small town with a Big heart.
