The Hidden Coast Paddle Event will kick off on Friday September 23rd in Cedar Key. There will be multiple guided paddles around the greater Cedar Keys with plenty of other things to keep you busy while you visit our historic little town.

September 23, 2011: Happy Hour Mixer
Friday Night to kick off the event, there will be a Happy Hour Mixer at the Hideaway Tiki Bar behind the Low-Key Hideaway Motel, (12050 State Road 24 - Cedar Key, FL 32625) There will be some giveaways and it will be a great way to get to mingle with your fellow paddlers in Cedar Key while watching the best sunset view on the island. This Mixer will start at 5pm and go till sunset.

September 24, 2011 @ 9:00 am Waccasassa Bay State Preserve (Free Paddle)
The Florida Park Service`s Waccasassa Bay Preserve State Park, in partnership with the Hidden Coast Paddling Festival, is offering a Ranger guided paddle into the Preserve along the Waccasassa River. This 5.5 mile paddle will put in at the Waccasassa River boat ramp at the end of CR 326 in Gulf Hammock, paddle westward on the Waccasassa into the Preserve, down and around Stafford Island and back to the boat ramp on Saturday September 24th.
* Paddlers will depart the Waccasassa boat ramp in Gulf Hammock at 9:00am and return around noon.
* Please bring sunscreen, insect repellant and drinking water.
* Basic paddling experience required, no paddling instruction will be provided.
* Kayak rental will not be provided. If you need a kayak, please contact Kayak Cedar Keys at 352-543-9447
* This trip will be limited to 30 paddlers, please reserve your spot by contacting the Park office at 352-543-5567.
* This trip is weather dependent and will be cancelled if the forecast calls for greater than 40% chance of rain or winds greater than 10 mph, please check with the park the day before the event.

September 24, 2011 @ 11:00 am Shell Mound Paddle (Paid Paddle)
Kayak Cedar Keys is pleased to offer a guided tour from Shell Mound to the Cedar Key City Park and Beach. This trip is being hosted by Tom Liebert of Kayak Cedar Keys and Bobby McCabe our local Pirate Tour Guide. This trip will be offered from Kayak Cedar Keys at the Cedar Key City Park where you`ll board the Pirate Tour Bus to Shell Mound. We will be paddling new 14` Native Manta Ray kayaks. The cost will include transportation to Shell Mound, kayaks, Guides and bottled water.
We will be leaving from Kayak Cedar Keys promptly at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. We will also offer this same tour again on Sunday, September 25th at 12:00 p.m for those that will be attending some of the other tours on Saturday.
Total cost is $60 per person. Individuals paddling their own kayaks can join in for $30. They will need to arrive by 10:30 on Saturday and 11:30 on Sunday so we will have time to load their kayaks and gear on the trailer.
Total Round Trip - 4-1/2 to 5 hours. This is considered an intermediate paddle. We will be stopping along the way at Mallory Key, as well as Rattlesnake Key. This will be a leisurely, fun paddle, utilizing the incoming tides both days!
We are only able to offer this to 6 single paddlers, no tandems please, so pleas register early. We need a minimum of 4 participants.

September 24, 2011 @ 6:30 am Atsenia Otie Key Paddle (Free Paddle)
Pat & Cindy Bonish will be guiding a Sunrise Paddle from the beach in Cedar Key around the island of Atsenia Otie Key - This paddle will last a few hours depending on the paddlers ability, but is considered a very easy paddle and would be great for beginners. The group size will be limited to 20 paddlers and is weather dependent.
Meet on the Cedar Key Beach at 6:30am and be ready to get in the water. This is a free paddle for those who have their own kayaks. If you need to rent a kayak from Tom Liebert, who is located right on the beach where we`ll be leaving from, please make arrangements in advance so you`ll have your kayak and gear ready to watch the sunrise from the water.

Saturday Night there will be a Happy Hour Mixer at the Island Room Restaurant, (192 E 2nd Street, Cedar Key, FL 32625) this will be a great way to get to mingle with your fellow paddlers and share your stories of the day spent paddling around Cedar Key. This Mixer will start at 5pm and Peter will have a special menu for this Mixer
