CEDAR KEY LIONS PARTICIPATE IN OCTOBER VISION AWARENESS MONTH

CEDAR KEY LIONS PARTICIPATE IN OCTOBER VISION AWARENESS MONTH

ANNOUNCEMENT

The Cedar Lions Club is inviting all community residents to participate in October Vision Awareness Month by bringing in used eyeglasses for recycling to the Lions club Sweet Corn and Soda booth at the Oct 15 and 16 Seafood Festival. Proceeds from sale of corn and sodas will be in support of our vision program which helps those in need obtain eye exams and glasses, while assisting with eye surgeries for qualified applicants.

This year-round vision care mission is particularity important during the Lions International "Sharing the Vision" Campaign, a Lions global campaign taking place during the month of October that focuses on the importance of healthy vision.

"Lions throughout the world share a common vision - to fight blindness and provide vision care for all. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, and as a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Eighty percent of all vision impairment can be avoided or cured. Organizing this project gives us a chance to raise awareness of the importance of healthy vision and the causes of vision loss" said Lannie Cardona, Lions Club President.

Lions clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. For more information or to get involved with the Cedar Key Lions Club, please contact Membership Chairperson Pam Oakley at 543 -0809.

Lions Clubs International is the world`s largest service club organization with 1.35 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in 206 countries and geographical areas around the world. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to sight preservation and community service throughout the world.
