Fowler`s Bluff Water Treatment Plant

Fowler`s Bluff Water Treatment Plant

ANNOUNCEMENT

Construction on the new Fowler`s Bluff water treatment plant and water system improvements reached an important milestone this week. A drive past the site on CR 347 reveals that the structural steel framing and split-faced block has been erected, a primary filter element is installed and construction of the ground storage tanks is taking shape.

The general contractor, Beach Construction, Inc., of Gainesville, began work in the fall, and as of mid-January, is more than 50 percent complete, on schedule and on budget.

The new system will replace one built in 1969 and utilizes a nanofiltration system that will allow residents to remove their private water filters and softeners when it becomes operational.

Joe Mittauer, President of Mittauer & Associates, Inc., the environmental and civil
engineering firm selected for the project, praised the Fowler`s Bluff Water Association for their vision and determination to make these much needed improvements.

A $2,890,000 grant and low-interest loan from USDA Rural Development is funding the water treatment facility that includes over 20,800 linear feet of water supply piping.
