ANNOUNCEMENT

Eileen Senecal, from the Cedar Key Woman`s Club, has been named Volunteer of the Year by District 5 of the Florida Federation of Woman`s Clubs! This prestigious award was presented at the District Arts and Crafts Luncheon held in Gainesville on Saturday, February 18.

Each year the Florida Federation of Woman`s Clubs selects a Volunteer of the Year from its phalanx of volunteers who donate 1000`s of volunteer hours to their communities. These State winners are selected in May from women nominated from each District. The Cedar Key Woman`s Club belongs to District 5, which includes 17 Woman`s Clubs from communities such as Gainesville, Melrose, Ocala, High Springs, and Crystal River.

Pictured from left to right are Sue Casey, Joyce Patti, Debbie Franks, Jan Hendrix, Marie Evans, Susan Roquemore, Vicki Crumpley, Joan Selby, and Jane Moore. Seated in front are Millie Bayha, and Eileen Senecal, who is holding her crystal award, Volunteer of the Year.

Eileen was nominated by her Club for her many hours of volunteer work and leadership in Cedar Key with projects such as Light up Cedar Key, the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts, the Community Health Fair, the Lions Club`s Festivals, and Christ Episcopal Church. Her leadership in the Woman`s Club has resulted in hundreds of boxes sent to deployed Troops. Appearing as Ms Tacky, she is a yearly feature at the Woman`s Club`s Fashion Show. This year she is spear-heading a fund-rising effort to raise money for the VA Hospital`s Fisher House.

Joyce Patti, Arts Chair for the Cedar Key Woman`s Club, won first place at the Florida Federation of Woman`s Clubs competition in Gainesville, for her drawing "Spirit Pottery".
