ANNOUNCEMENT

Folks in Cedar Key are already gearing up for summer. Wednesday night the Cedar Key Arts Center was abuzz with plans and ideas for the student oriented summer art program.

Several people offered to assist, and others had ideas for programs, such as weaving.

Over a dinner catered by the Island Room staff, the talk was so loud at times, we had to plead for quiet in order to announce the winners of the many raffle items.

Bill Seyfarth, CK Arts Board Member, gave a nice talk about the plans at the Arts Center. Mary Bottenberg, in reply from a question from the participants, said the arts program this year will be about learning the basics. Drawing, composition and painting, as well as clay work will be featured.

Zandy Zettler is currently working with students from Cedar Key school, and has established a rapport with those students. Hopefully, we can build on that.
Peter Klocksien, President of the CK Arts Center Board, is fired up about the number of talented people who live in Cedar Key who can show the budding art student techniques that they themselves have mastered.

In other news, the Friends of the Suwannee Refuge are planning to present a story board along with the Wildlife show at the opening Saturday, March 3, from 5-7 pm. Local people are bringing work reflecting the theme "Wildlife" in any medium they choose. The entries will be judged, and prizes awarded.
