Cedar Key Lions Elect 2012-2013 Officers and Directors

Cedar Key, - The Cedar Key Lions Club held their annual election of Officers and Board members for the July 2012 - June 2013 year and celebrated with an installation dinner on May 8.

The Board of Directors and officers for the coming year are: Pam Oakley, President; Lannie Cardona, Immediate Past President; Steve Rosenthal, 1st Vice President; Dale Register, 2nd Vice President; Faye Sanders, Secretary; Sarah Cardona; Treasurer; Marvin Franks, Director; Bill Stephens, Director; Maurice Hendrix, director, and Ralph Selby, Director.

The Cedar Key Lions officers for the coming year are from left: Ralph Selby, Tail Twister; Faye Sanders, Secretary; Lannie Cardona, Immediate Past President; Pam Oakley, President; Steve Rosenthal, 1st Vice President; Sarah Cardona; Treasurer; and Dale Register, 2nd Vice President.

Since the Cedar Key Lions Club`s chartering on July 2,1968, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community. In the past 12 months the club helped a record amount of people with vision care, providing eye exams, eyeglasses and eye surgeries to over 130 individuals in Cedar Key and Levy County. The Lions also assist people in need to obtain low cost hearing aids.

Proceeds from fundraising events such as participation in the Seafood Festival, the Arts Festival and the Lions Club Valentines Day Dinner-Dance go to help fund local vision care and hearing services, the Lions Club P.H. Day and the Community Service Scholarships at Cedar Key High School, the annual Cedar Key Community Health Day Fair, support of local charities, including the School Safety Patrol trip to Washington D.C., the Food Pantry, LARC, Another Way, as well as Florida and International Lions projects.

The Cedar Key Lions Club has 31 members and meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
