Friends of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges - Group Kayak and Picnic Event

Peg Hall - National Wildlife Refuge System

The Friends of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges will hold a Group Paddle and Picnic in the Town of Suwannee. Join us for an easy (beginners welcome), short (3.8 miles, 2 hours), fresh water paddle on Lock Creek, thru riverine swamp along the Suwannee River.

Meet at 9:30 AM at the public boat ramp on CR 349, in Suwannee, just north of Anderson Landing Campground. Park across the highway in the gravel parking lot. The Friends will have printed panels available showing the Lock Creek Trail and will review them with paddlers before the event. We will each pair up with one or two other paddlers to look out for each other during the trip.

Bring your own kayak or rent one in town. Bring a lunch and we will gather after the paddle to eat together at the community center just down the road, across the highway from Salt Creek restaurant.

The event is weather dependent. Email friends@friendsofrefuges.org to indicate your interest and give us a way to reach you if we need to cancel.

A downloadable version of the trail is available at www.paddleLSCKrefuges.org. More information, including information about boat rentals, is on our website at www.friendsofrefuges.org
