Join the Ranger for Discovery Day Camp

Pam Darty

The Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge is inviting kids from 3rd through 8th grades to Discovery Day Camp - and it`s all free. The new classroom is filled with learning tools like microscopes, spotting scopes, binoculars, animal skeleton replicas, and more to keep your student`s mind engaged in the outdoors.

A hike will take them into the Refuge to explore nature with the Ranger. They will be given nature journals to sketch their sightings and other give-aways. Over the summer, lessons will include native pollinators, bats, turtles, and tree frogs. For hiking, OFF brand mosquito machines will be loaned out to the students in order to protect them from the mosquito outbreak.

Bring a lunch and plan to stay for the fun! Activities start at 10:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM. We are limited to ten students per class, so make your reservation now for Saturday, July 21st, or Thursday August 2nd, or Thursday August 16th. Call for more information or to make your reservation at 352/493-0238, extension 223.
