Cedar Key Lions Commemorate 6 years of Adopt-a-Highway

Rory Brennan

On Saturday Sept 22, Cedar Key Lions members and volunteers commemorated their 6th year of Adopt-A-Highway trash pick up along the two miles of Highway 24 leading to the # 4 Bridge.

Lions coordinator Rory Brennan says, "In our first six years, the Lions have collected an estimated 1.32 tons of trash along our adopted stretch of Highway 24."

He continued, "We`ve noticed that the littering along the highway is diminishing year by year, a hopeful sign that visitors and residents are becoming more aware of how littering adversely affects the beauty and delicate ecology of our Cedar Keys."
